SUN CITY, North West, 5 March 2025 – Casandra Alexander is looking to entrench her position at the top of the Investec Order of Merit as she tees it up in this week’s SuperSport Ladies Challenge presented by Sun International as a previous winner of this event and on a Gary Player Country Club course that always brings the best out of her game.

Alexander is already a winner on the Sunshine Ladies Tour this season following her victory in last week’s Jabra Ladies Classic, and before that she finished tied second in the Standard Bank Ladies Open hosted by the City of Cape Town.  She returns to a tournament that she won in 2023 and also finished second in in 2022.

“I absolutely love the Gary Player Country Club.  I’ve won there a few times before.  I love the layout of the golf course.  I know it like the back of my hand so I’m definitely going in there with a nice positive and confident attitude,” she said ahead of Wednesday’s first round.

“We do know it’s golf and anything can happen but I’m really looking forward to Sun City.  I have missed it in the past because of Ladies European Tour events taking place over that time, so I’m really amped for this year’s event.”

Coming from Cape Town where the last two Sunshine Ladies Tournaments took place in dry and often windy conditions, Alexander says she’ll adjust her game to suit this week’s challenges.

“I’m sure Sun City is pretty wet from all the rain they’ve had so I think this week the course is going to allow nice and aggressive play.  My team and I are really good at adapting to the changes as every week we are in a different country.  So maybe this is an advantage I have over some of the South African players who don’t travel as much.”

Scotland’s Lorna McClymont, who finished second last week in only her third tournament since turning professional at the beginning of the year, is hoping to continue her good form.

“Last week I was good mentally, and I just kept myself in the moment enjoying every shot rather than thinking too much about everything.  I’m just really enjoying playing in South Africa.  The golf courses are amazing.  The last two we played were in great condition.  Everyone here does an amazing job.  This week I have no expectations.  I’m just going to take it all in and enjoy it,” she said.

France’s Lucie Malchirand, who claimed her first Sunshine Ladies Tour title in the Standard Bank Ladies Open hosted by the City of Cape Town, as well as Danielle du Toit, who lifted the trophy at this year’s NTT DATA Ladies Pro-Am, will join South African rookie Kaiyuree Moodley at Sun City.

Partnership with Sunshine Tour

In 2013 the WPGA formed a partnership with the Sunshine Tour which resulted in the successful launch of the Sunshine Ladies Tour in 2014 and the partnership continues to this day.  The WPGA has controlling rights of all Women’s Professional Golf events events hosted in South Africa and control over the Women’s Tour.
